Sara's Rainbow Sleepover
The following post is sponsored by Basic Invite. All opinions are my own
At the beginning of 2020, I told my daughter, Sara, that she could have a sleepover for her birthday in July. We all know what happened a few months later, so clearly it did not work out in 2020.
This year she begged me to do one, and I said yes if she only invited 2 friends. She was static and we went all out. Because only having 3 girls at a party does not mean it should be less over the top.
We started by figuring out the theme and colors, Sara wanted to do rainbow but not bright rainbow nor pastel rainbow, so we landed somewhere in between. After that we picked our invitation, we went into Basic Invite’s website, typed in “rainbow” in the search bar, and found the perfect one right away. We ordered it as is because it fit our theme so well, but you can customize everything on their website.
They have almost unlimited colors- Basic Invite is one of the few websites that allows customers almost unlimited color options with instant previews online. Once you select a design, you can change the color of each element on the card. With over 180 colors to choose from, you can make sure the card is exactly how you want it. This is what sets them apart from almost any other online stationery company.
Before we committed, we ordered custom samples- Basic Invite is one of the few websites that allows customers to order a printed sample of their actual invitation before they place their final order. They can see the paper's quality and how it will print in real life and make sure the card is perfect.
Take a look at how many kid’s birthday invitations they have, the options are endless! We also went with the matching thank you cards to send to her friends later.
After the theme and invitation were selected, I reached out to Sweet Dreamz Slumber Party and hired them to bring the teepees and some of the decor, like rainbow pillows, trays, signs, and mattresses, etc. This made my life so much easier! They were super easy to work with and very accommodating.
I added a huge balloon garland going across all the teepees to finish off the look. I think that’s what makes the party pop. Sara was super excited about them because she sees me create balloon garlands and installations all the time and they’re never for her.
For party favors, I made all the girls a color-changing cup, a hairbrush, a pillow, and a sleeping mask, all with their names on them. I also added a personalized bag so they could put everything they got in there the next day. We also had a big vase with beads so they could make bracelets and necklaces, poured in rainbow order, of course!
When I say we went all out I wasn’t kidding, ha!
Here are all the links to the things I used, some of the items were purchased on sale at Michael’s but I did my best to find them on Amazon for you.
Rainbow Invitation from Basic Invite (right now they’re having a 15% off sale with code 15FF51)
Hairbrush (these things are like magic, we ended up buying more so we could have one on each shower…curly girls only brush their hair in the shower, lol)
Party on!
